Addiction

With Forty percent of the world’s population using the Internet, there are high chances that an individual may experience a habit-forming chemical reaction that can influence behaviour in one. This may cause an addiction without the form of substance. Addiction in the digital world which is known as, Internet Addiction Disorder has some signs such as; failed attempt to control behavior, changes in sleep patterns, and more (The IIE, 2021).

An example of such addictions is when individuals are seeking the desire to spend more time on the Internet, which tends to raise the attention of mental health.

Online Disinhibition Effect

This is the inactive behaviour of being social with others due to the amount of time spent on the Internet (The IIE, 2021).

An example of this is someone that may find it hard to be social with others and tends to be anti-social.

Cyber Bullying

The Internet being a great source of communication today, bullying has largely increased as children are exposed to it and some are victims to it (The IIE, 2021). 

An example of someone being called names under a picture of themselves which was posted on social media.

Cyber Stalking

Stalking has rapidly increased as a person is able to connect to the internet, social media, emails and any other electronic communicator. This crime is making a lot of individuals feel unsafe (The IIE, 2021).

An example is someone making another person feel unsafe about their private life based on the social activity that individual makes.
